Everybody loves a beautiful granite countertop, but do know where granite actually comes from?
Granite is formed over millions of years as a result of volcanic activity. Magma that flows from the volcano will slowly cool over millions of years and combine with different minerals in the earth that create its beautiful appearance. Over time, quarries form as the softer earthen areas erode around the hard granite stone.
When granite is removed from the quarries and polished to a bright sheen it is a beautiful and durable stone for home use for counters and backsplashes and some areas of flooring. Depending on where the quarries are located, granite can come in many different colors from which to choose for your kitchen or bath remodel.
Luxus Granite and Marble has a showroom in Cranston RI where you can choose from many different granite options. We will even work with you to order that perfect piece of stone to finish those counters in your new kitchen if you don’t see excatly what you want!
Did you ever wonder about how we measure for and cut those beautiful granite contertops?
We measure the countertop area length from the line of the back wall in each direction out. This allows us to make a template to ensure the proper fit. Then we do a hard form template, an exact replica of your space, and lay that out on the selected stones and fabricate it from that.
